Monday, February 11, 2008 Saturday night, law enforcement officials searched the Wabash River for about half an hour following a report that someone had jumped or fallen off the Cicott Street Bridge in Logansport. The Pharos-Tribune reports that a ten-year-old boy said he had seen someone fall just after six o’clock Saturday night. The newspaper says the search was called off after about half an hour because the witness didn’t actually see anyone fall, and nothing was found. The American Red Cross is responding to Indiana communities that have been affected by flooding and storm damage. There’s a special effort to provide Disaster Mental Health to residents whose homes have now flooded for the second time in weeks. There are currently two Red Cross Shelters open in the state – in Monticello and Winamac. The Red Cross is also offering flood clean-up tips. They say mold is of particular concern after any flood. Tuesday is the most productive day of the week for most employees. That’s the word from a new survey by Accountemps. Fifty seven percent of senior executives polled answered that Tuesdays were their most productive day. Mondays ranked second most productive, at 12 percent. The number of workers in the prime earning years age group of 25 to 54 is shrinking nationwide. That’s the word from a new study by Indiana University. In Indiana it’s expected to decline about 1.7 percent by the year 20-25. Thirty-two Indiana counties, mostly rural, will see a decline of more than 10 percent. The report indicates that it could all change if the immigration rate of young people increases. The Lieutenant Governor and a delegation of more than 2 dozen Indiana leaders wrapped up the 2008 Food and Agricultural Trade Mission Friday. One thing on their agenda was a visit to a pork processing plant in Mexico City. The company processes ham sections that they import chilled from the U.S. and Canada. Mike Platt, with the Indiana Pork Producers Association, said delegates were happy to hear that they buy some of their product from Logansport.
