Dale Lowe has been in professional broadcasting for over 25 years with the
last 16 in Logansport. He's been with Hoosier Country 103.7 since July and is
currently the morning D.J. from 5-9. Dale also has an afternoon request show;
Lunch with Lowe. Join the "Morning Maverick" Dale Lowe every weekday from 5-9am
and then again from 11-1pm.
Dale says, " I'm 46 years old and single. I'm only available for afternoon
dates since I have to get up at 3:30am. I'm also on a senior citizens schedule
for dinner."
No wonder he's single!
Let me
introduce myself to you. I'm Jim Casey, the guy keeping you company late in the
day on Today's Best Country. Now, for some of you, I'm reintroducing myself,
because you used to find me hanging around some time back. I guess it's true
what they say about the bad penny always turning up, because here I am, hanging
around again.
I knew I wanted to be on the radio pretty early in life. I was one of those
kids you could never get to go to sleep at night. When mom and dad would come to
check on me, they'd find me under the covers with a flashlight, a comic book,
and my transistor radio. I used to love to tune that radio across the dial and
hear the voices coming from what seemed like far off lands. Usually it was no
more than a couple of states away, but it seemed far off to me.
When I was in the 8th grade, I took my first speech course, and the teacher
told me I had a good voice for radio. That sounded pretty good to me. I thought,
"Boy, if I could be on the radio, I'd be rich, famous, and I'd never have to
work for a living!" Well, in all honesty, I guess I never really have worked all
that hard. In this case, one out of three ain't bad. I toured Mexico as part of
hard rock boy band for a while
Radio has taken me to a lot of those places that I used to hear through the
static on that old transistor radio under those covers more years back than I'm
willing to admit to now, and they've brought me to the Best Country Around to
spend the day with you. Thanks for listening... It keeps me from having to work
for a living! If you have any ideas on getting the rich and famous part of the
dream, let me know!
Jerry Walker keeps
insomniacs and third-shifters company with topical discussions, late-night
audience interaction and a wide-awake attitude. This radio veteran has more than
35 years of on-air experience for various stations in Canada and Texas.
It all began for Jerry Walker when he was a kid in Brooklyn, NY. He remembers
using some rather primitive radio equipment to "broadcast" a show to his
neighborhood.
"I had a Lafayette Electronics Transmitter and a Webcor record player," he says.
"I think the signal reached about three blocks, but the produce manager at the
local A&P loved it and provided me with all of the eggplants I could ever want."
These days Jerry broadcasts on a signal that reaches a little farther. As the
overnight host of the Best Country Around, he's happy to be finally heard by
more than two or three people at a time.
A career in radio was Jerry's lifelong goal, and he claims that the highlight of
his career before coming here was his work with WBAP, Dallas. "WBAP's signal
covers 42 states," he says. "It's kind of humbling to realize that your voice is
being heard by well over half the country during certain times of the day."
"Country music is the mainstream music of today," according to Jerry Walker.
"And I'm glad I was born in the South. The SOUTH SIDE of Brooklyn!"
Jerry and his wife, Tina, have been married for 30 years. They have a
college-age son, Robbie, who is starting to show signs of an interest in radio.
He thinks it's a great career choice, especially if you enjoy being in a small
room by yourself with a microphone.
